Jack C. Ritter was born in 1936 in Mechanicsburg, attended the Mechanicsburg School System, Mercersburg Academy and Penn State. He is the third generation in the Hardware Business. Mayor Ritter entered the U.S. Army in October of 1958 and was discharged as a Captain in May of 1969 from the Pennsylvania Army Reserve National Guard.
Mayor Ritter is a member of the Mechanicsburg Museum Association, Washington Fire Company (life member), Appalachian Trail Conference, Camp Curtain Historical Society, The Society of American Magicians, The International Brotherhood of Magicians, Friends of the Simpson Library, The American Legion, Pennsylvania State Mayors Association, Harrisburg Civil War Round Table, Eureka Lodge, The Keystonians, Mechanicsburg Vietnam Veterans, President of the Union Church and sixth term Mayor of the Borough of Mechanicsburg.
Interests include: History and Trivia about Mechanicsburg, Reading to children at the Simpson Library, Magic, Ringmaster of the Hummel Miniature Flea Circus, Handler of Chico “The Mind Reading Monkey”, his Loving Wife Linda, three children and four grandchildren. Mayor Ritter also completed hiking the Appalachian Trail from Maine to Georgia (2175 miles).
