Codes and Zoning
The Borough of Mechanicsburg employs a full-time Codes and Zoning Department. The Codes and Zoning Department of the Borough collects and reviews all zoning and building permits; It also schedules and performs all rental inspections.
The Zoning Officer, Jason Foster, is responsible for administrating the Historic Architectural Review Board. He also provides input on all subdivision land development plans that are placed on the Planning Commission agenda.
Residents are encouraged to call the Borough Office if they have questions about zoning permits, building permits, property maintenance complaints and/or the Zoning Ordinance.
If a resident is seeking information on the Historic District, please contact the Borough Office. All external changes, repairs, and alterations made to a building within the Historic District require a Certificate of Appropriateness granted by the Histroic Architectural Review Board (HARB). If your property is located within the Historic District and you plan on making changes/repairs/alterations/additions, please remember to contact the Borough office and secure a Historic Architectural Review Board permit application. After turning in your application, plan on attending the monthly HARB meeting to represent the project.
Please be advised that although we strive to expedite the permit process, the UCC allows 15 business days for most residential permits and 30 days for commercial permits. If an application for a permit is incomplete the time frame of the permit process will be extended.
For property maintenance violation complaints please contact Trish by email.
