April 24, 2004 - Great PA Cleanup

Great PA Cleanup -  Thank You!!!

On Behalf of Governor Rendell, Secretary Biehler of PennDOT, Secretary  DiBerardinis of DCNR, the members of Keep Pennsylvania Beautiful, and the many volunteers who worked so hard to make the Great Pennsylvania Cleanup such a resounding success,  Thank You From All Of Us!!!

When we first challenged the people of Pennsylvania to organize and conduct community cleanups as part of the first annual Great Pennsylvania Cleanup, we knew you would respond.  But we weren't prepared for the overwhelming show of support from all corners of the state.

Local government leaders, business and trade organizations, community  groups and ordinary citizens joined forces to organize and conduct cleanups in community parks, along roads and streams and in vacant  lots.  Over 500 groups registered on this website, and PennDOT reports that several thousand Adopt-A-Highway groups turned out to clean miles of  state highways.
